Lowell Provision has continued to grow with each generation due to our attentive service, choice meats and finest provisions. We firmly believe, and have proven; the way to continued growth is through hard work and a constant effort to supply and produce, top quality steaks, chops, and roasts that customers will talk about over and over.

We are an old fashioned butcher shop like one your mother went to. Most of the meat items can be and are customized the way you want. Accordingly, we get to know and serve you better. Your happiness and satisfaction are very important to us.

"Meat business since the early 1900's ..."

For over Ninety Seven years we have provided the best quality meats to the Greater Lowell area!! Lowell Provision Company’s legacy began in 1913. Morrill Doyle, an immigrant from CANADA opened up a meat market on Moody Street, in Lowell, Massachusetts. World War II was a difficult time for the United States. Morrill's son Robert (Bob) is drafted, meat is rationed and food is allotted by ration stamps. However, Morrill kept Lowell Provision going by supplying to institutions and paying attention to customer's needs. WWII ended and it was back to business as usual.

Bob Doyle took over the family business in 1946 with focus on high quality product and service. In the 1960's with urban renewal changes in the Moody Street area, Lowell Provision Company moves, September 22, 1966 to 23 Aiken Avenue, Lowell Massachusetts. The new Lowell Provision Company is larger and is able to offer the butcher shop that we know and love today.

Nine children later, Bob begins to allow the older children to work at the store. Most of the children started sweeping floors but worked themselves up to full time butchers and eventual owners. Lowell Provision Company expanded in 1989 and opened Alpine Butcher Shop in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. All nine children and 11 of the grandchildren worked at the store at some time.

Today, three of Bob's children own and operate Lowell Provision Company and, Alpine Butcher Shop. Both meat markets offer individualized customer care; specialty cuts of meat, in-house prepared food, and a great selection of fine wines and beers.

Dennis, Peter, and Philip Doyle invite you to stop by and enjoy our family owned meat business. We are federally inspected daily by the USDA, (unlike most supermarkets and other butcher shops), insuring that you, the customer are receiving the best quality meats processed under wholesome conditions.
